The eighth season of the American animated series The Simpsons was broadcast from October 27, 1996 to May 18, 1997 on the US broadcaster Fox . The German-language first broadcast was broadcast by the private broadcaster ProSieben from September 5, 1997 to October 31, 1998, with the first episode of the series Hugo, kleine Wesen and Kang not being broadcast until October 31, 1998.

The season was released on DVD on August 15, 2006 in the United States and October 2, 2006 in Germany.

The Simpsons are moving to Cypress Creek, where Homer got a great job at Globex Corporation. However, he does not notice that his new boss Hank Scorpio is a super villain and that he is helping him to achieve world domination.
The episode is primarily a parody of James Bond films.

With Moe's help as a manager, Homer becomes a boxer. Homer lets himself be beaten every time until the opponent gets tired. In the fight for the heavyweight championship, the strategy doesn't seem to be working. In this episode you can see Homer's famous X-ray with the tiny brain in a large cavity.

Larry Burns discovers during a train ride that his father is Mr. Burns and follows him to Springfield. Larry turns out to be the opposite of Burns, which his father doesn't like. Homer fakes kidnapping with Larry to test Burns. The maneuver initially seems to serve its purpose, but the son soon disappears.

Bart is forced by Homer to work for Belle as a punishment for destroying a gargoyle for her. Belle's house turns out to be a sort of vaudeville bliss that is visited by all the men from Springfield. Marge demands the demolition of the house.

The Flanders' house is the only one destroyed in a hurricane and they have to move to an emergency shelter. The people of Springfield are rebuilding the house, albeit in a completely amateurish way. When it finally collapses, the always friendly Ned bursts the collar. Flanders then voluntarily goes to a sanatorium for the mentally ill.

After Homer eats a chilli pepper that is way too hot at the annual Springfield Chili Cooking Festival, he begins to hallucinate. A coyote appears to him and asks him to find his soul mate. Homer sees this in Marge, but she reproaches him.

Mr. Burns wants to improve the team spirit of his employees and orders a survival weekend. Homer and Mr. Burns are the first to reach the hut as a team of two by cheating, but are then trapped in the hut by several avalanches. An explosion of the gas container in the hut can free the two of them from the avalanche.

Lisa becomes a babysitter. First she is needed by the Flanders and then receives further orders. When Marge and Homer instruct them to take care of Bart, Bart tries to harm Lisa's reputation to harm himself and falls down the stairs. Lisa wants to keep this a secret and therefore tries to secretly take Bart to a "non-approved" doctor. However, both of them accidentally end up at the opening ceremony of the port center, at which almost all of Springfield is present. Thereupon she initially received no further orders.

After Bart gets drunk on St. Patrick's Day , Springfield's wives demand the end of alcohol sales. The city council discovers a law that has had a strict alcohol ban in Springfield for over 200 years . FBI officer Rex Banner is hired to oversee the ban. Homer secretly supplies Moe with home-brewed beer. It later emerges that the ban has been invalid for almost 199 years.

Frank Grimes starts to work at the nuclear power plant and doesn't like Homer from the start. He is upset that he had to work his way up while he believes Homer is relatively wealthy despite his incompetence . When Homer wins first prize in a children's competition, Grimes goes mad and touches a power cable , whereupon he dies. Homer sleeps at his funeral.

Bart caused chaos with several megaphones connected in series. Marge then takes Bart to a military academy to teach him better behavior. However, Lisa also goes there, albeit voluntarily. As the only girl among the cadets, she can only assert herself there with great difficulty.
