Spiel mit dem Schicksal ( Playdate with Destiny ) is a five-minute American animated short silent film and an offshoot of the animated series The Simpsons from 2020. After the animated film The Simpsons - The Film and the short film The longest daycare day is Play with Destiny the third Simpsons movie.

After the longest day in daycare , this is the second short film with Maggie Simpson as the main character. Directed by David Silverman .

Marge Simpson drives Maggie to a playground where she puts the baby in a sandpit right in front of a slide. Just before a boy slips down and meets Maggie, she is pulled away by another baby named Hudson, is fascinated by him and gives him her blue hair bow. The two spend an age-appropriate romantic day until Hudson is put in the car by his mother and he waves her goodbye.

At night Maggie dreams of Hudson and excitedly prepares to see her again the next morning. But her father Homer Simpson does not take her to yesterday's playground, but one exit further to a skater park, where he buys a taco. Riding on a skateboard, she sees Hudson looking for her in the playground. When Homer drives past the playground again the next day, Maggie throws the steering wheel around and steers back into the parking lot. There she sees Hudson get on a train and makes her way to him. Disappointed that she didn't reach him in time, she sits down on the floor and is taken by Hudson shortly afterwards when he drives past Maggie again. The train only turns a small circle, which neither of them was aware of before. Instead of a kiss, they end up swapping their pacifiers.

Playing with Destiny was shown in the United States on March 6, 2020 as a supporting film for Onward: No Half Measures . In Germany, both films were released a day earlier. The announcement will be made on February 28, 2020 on Instagram.

After Disney bought parts of the media company 21st Century Fox and thus also obtained ownership of The Simpsons , the producers approached Pixar and asked to be allowed to show Game with Fate as a supporting film for a Pixar film.

Game with Destiny has been on Disney + since April 10, 2020 .

Trivia

At the beginning of the film, Mickey Mouse's stylized head transforms into Homer Simpson's face with two donuts for ears and Disney welcomes The Simpsons .
