The sixteenth season of the US animated series The Simpsons was broadcast from November 7, 2004 to May 15, 2005 on the US broadcaster Fox . The German-language free TV first broadcast was broadcast by ProSieben from October 29, 2005 to February 11, 2006.
The season was released on DVD on December 3, 2013 in the United States and December 2, 2013 in Germany. The Blu-ray release also took place in the United States on December 3, 2013. In Germany, it did not take place until December 11, 2013.

Homer loses his job at the nuclear power plant and becomes financially dependent on Bart. For Lisa's physics competition, he uses real fuel rods to build a model of a nuclear power plant, with which he also threatens the wholesaler Gladwell, who is cheating Bart out of his money. | ||||||||

During a trip to Shelbyville, the Simpsons discover that the people of Springfield are still mistaken for backwoodsmen. Therefore the culture committee decides to build a concert hall. But because classical music is not well received in Springfield, the building is converted by Mr. Burns into a prison, in which Homer is later also incarcerated. Homer tries his hand at Mr. Burns as a prison spy, but his fellow inmates notice. They want to kill Homer, which Marge can prevent in time. | ||||||||

In a strange pub he meets the roofer Ray Magini, who he is extremely likeable. While at work, Ray disappears and does not reappear. Everyone now believes that Homer just imagined Ray. Dr. Hibbert treats Homer with electroshock therapy until Homer no longer believes in Ray either. But eventually Ray reappears. | ||||||||

New junk food machines in the school ensure that beard grows tremendously within a very short time. Eventually he has a heart attack. Because he refuses any diet and continues to eat unhealthily, his parents see themselves forced to send him to a weight loss camp. Homer spreads this all over town, only Ned remains clueless. When he hears about it, he moves to the friendlier town of Humbleton. But Humbleton's residents want Ned to shave off his mustache. Bart is expelled from school and therefore has to go to a Catholic school. With the help of the young pastor Sean, Bart quickly finds pleasure in the new religion and Homer is persuaded too. Marge, Ned and Reverend Lovejoy decide to save their sheep. |
