The sixteenth season of the US animated series The Simpsons was broadcast from November 7, 2004 to May 15, 2005 on the US broadcaster Fox . The German-language free TV first broadcast was broadcast by ProSieben from October 29, 2005 to February 11, 2006.

The season was released on DVD on December 3, 2013 in the United States and December 2, 2013 in Germany. The Blu-ray release also took place in the United States on December 3, 2013. In Germany, it did not take place until December 11, 2013.

In the Belly of the Boss - Homer and his family are so shrunk that they can be inserted into Mr. Burn's body with a tiny device.

Lisa is rescued by Marge while Chloe is rescued by a helicopter that Barney is piloting.

After Bart lost his last baby tooth and didn't get any money from the tooth fairy for it, he made a fortune as a successful t-shirt designer. Homer loses his job at the nuclear power plant and becomes financially dependent on Bart. For Lisa's physics competition, he uses real fuel rods to build a model of a nuclear power plant, with which he also threatens the wholesaler Gladwell, who is cheating Bart out of his money.

After the old health inspector, an old friend of Moe's tragic death of a Solei , his successor closes Moe's tavern because of numerous violations of the regulations. To make a renovation possible in the tavern, Homer gives his friend a loan, for which he guarantees with his house. Marge wants to keep an eye on the investment and joins Moe as a partner. The two get along better and better. Homer becomes especially jealous when the two want to fly to a business meeting together.

The students at Springfield Elementary School drive to a glacier where Bart Lisa plays some nasty pranks. Back at home, she therefore obtains a court order, according to which Bart may not approach her more than six meters. It is later expanded to 61 meters, so that Bart has to live at the end of the garden in order not to get any closer to Lisa.

During a trip to Shelbyville, the Simpsons discover that the people of Springfield are still mistaken for backwoodsmen. Therefore the culture committee decides to build a concert hall. But because classical music is not well received in Springfield, the building is converted by Mr. Burns into a prison, in which Homer is later also incarcerated. Homer tries his hand at Mr. Burns as a prison spy, but his fellow inmates notice. They want to kill Homer, which Marge can prevent in time.

Professor Frink presents Bart and Lisa with a machine that gives them a glimpse into their future as teenagers. Homer and Marge have split up, and Bart and Lisa go to prom, the latter with Milhouse. However, Bart's girlfriend is unsure of Bart's future, which is why this Lisa almost takes away her scholarship at Yale .

There is a huge storm in Springfield and Marge asks Homer to finally repair the big hole in the roof. Homer flees to Moe, where he also feels unwelcome. In a strange pub he meets the roofer Ray Magini, who he is extremely likeable. While at work, Ray disappears and does not reappear. Everyone now believes that Homer just imagined Ray. Dr. Hibbert treats Homer with electroshock therapy until Homer no longer believes in Ray either. But eventually Ray reappears.

New junk food machines in the school ensure that beard grows tremendously within a very short time. Eventually he has a heart attack. Because he refuses any diet and continues to eat unhealthily, his parents see themselves forced to send him to a weight loss camp. The Simpsons are temporarily turning their house into a hostel to cover the costs of the camp.

Springfield is getting its own superstar singing show: Krusty's Lil 'Starmaker. Although the competition is fierce, Lisa also takes part with a song specially written for her by Homer. Homer enjoys the role of manager and continues to look after Lisa successfully.

Marge suggests that Ned Flanders rent a room because of his lack of money. The two students who move in there use the room for disreputable live videos on the Internet. Homer spreads this all over town, only Ned remains clueless. When he hears about it, he moves to the friendlier town of Humbleton. But Humbleton's residents want Ned to shave off his mustache. He refuses and moves back to Springfield.

Bart is expelled from school and therefore has to go to a Catholic school. With the help of the young pastor Sean, Bart quickly finds pleasure in the new religion and Homer is persuaded too. Marge, Ned and Reverend Lovejoy decide to save their sheep.
