Primetime Emmy Awards
The Simpsons has won 27 Primetime Emmy Awards to date . Two of these nominations were for the episode It's Christmas Hard , which was nominated as a separate cartoon in 1990 because it was officially a "TV special" and not part of the series; however, it is included in these statistics. The series' most successful year in terms of awards won was 1992, when it won six Emmys, all in the Outstanding Voice-Over Performance category .
The Simpsons was nominated for the Outstanding Animated Program (For Programming less than One Hour) category every year with the exception of 1993 and 1994 . 1993 was the first year that producers didn't suggest episodes for this category. Before 1993, the series was only allowed to compete in the cartoon categories, but this changed in early 1993, so that cartoon series can also compete in the Outstanding Comedy Series category .
