Aruna Dindane (born November 26, 1980 in Abidjan ) is a former Ivorian football player , he played as a striker and was also used in the national team of his home country .
societies
Aruna Dindane started his career at ASEC Mimosas . For the 2000/01 season he moved abroad for the first time to the top Belgian club RSC Anderlecht . Here he was able to assert himself immediately and made it into the regular squad in his first season. As a result, he played five seasons for Anderlecht and was Belgian champion twice and in 2003 he won the Golden Boot for best player of the year in Belgium. For the 2005/06 season he moved to his current club RC Lens in the French Ligue 1 . Here he was the most successful goalscorer of his team in the 2005/06 season behind Daniel Cousin . At the beginning of May 2008 he suffered a rupture of the cruciate ligament in his left knee, which only gave him hope six months later that he would be able to play in the games in the north of France, who had since been relegated to Ligue 2 .
At the end of August 2009 he was awarded to the English first division club Portsmouth FC . In addition, “Pompey” secured a purchase option worth € 4 million. This would have been automatically due if Dindane had played his eighteenth league game for Portsmouth. However, since the club is insolvent and could not pay the transfer fee, he has not been in the squad for league games at Portsmouth since his seventeenth league appearance against Liverpool . However, he was still used in the FA Cup , as the contract clause only applied to the league. For the 2010/11 season Dindane moved to the Qatar club Lekhwiya in the Qatar Stars League .
National team
Along with Didier Drogba, Aruna Dindane was one of the most dangerous and successful strikers in the Ivorian national team . That is why he was nominated for the 2006 African Championship . However, Dindane was unable to attend due to a family death. At the 2006 World Cup , he played all three preliminary round matches. In the 3-2 win against Serbia and Montenegro , he was in the starting line-up to replace the suspended Didier Drogba. In this game he scored two goals and was the top scorer in the Ivorian squad .
Also at the Soccer World Cup 2010 Dindane was used in all three preliminary round games, but remained without a goal.
