The district of Ccapi is located in the province of Paruro in the region of Cusco in south-central Peru . The district was founded on January 2, 1857. It has an area of ​​326 km². At the 2017 census, 3265 inhabitants lived in the district. In 1993 the population was 4476, in 2007 3860. The district administration is located in the 3196  m high village of Ccapi with 846 inhabitants (as of 2017). Ccapi is located 27 km west-southwest of the provincial capital Paruro and just under 40 km south-southwest of the regional capital Cusco .

Geographical location

The district of Ccapi is located in the Andean highlands in the west of the province of Paruro. It is bounded in the west by the Río Santo Tomás , in the north by the Río Apurímac and in the east by the rivers Quebrada Uchucha and Río Velille .

The district of Ccapi is bordered to the west by the districts of Mara and Tambobamba (both in the province of Cotabambas ), to the north by the district of Huanoquite , to the northeast by the district of Paccaritambo , to the east by the districts of Colcha and Accha and to the south by the district of Capacmarca ( Chumbivilcas Province ).
