Dobiercice ( German Wilmsdorf ) is a place of Gmina Byczyna in the Opole Voivodeship in Poland .

Geographical location

Dobiercice is located in the northwestern part of Upper Silesia in the Kreuzburger Land. The village of Dobiercice is about seven kilometers southeast of the municipality of Byczyna , about 13 kilometers northeast of the district town of Kluczbork and about 60 kilometers northeast of the voivodeship capital Opole .

Church of St. John of Dukla

In 1393 the village was first mentioned as Wilhelmsdorff .

An iron ore mine was operated southeast of the village between 1755 and 1766. In 1784 a blast furnace was built in the village. In 1845 there was a Protestant church, an estate, a Protestant school, a distillery and another 27 houses in the village. In the same year, 277 people lived in Wilmsdorf, 37 of them Catholic. In 1874 the district of Wilmsdorf was founded. In 1861 a new church was built in Wilhelmsdorf. In the same year 381 people lived in Wilmsdorf. In 1876 the rectory was built.

In 1933 322 people lived in Wilmsdorf, and again 286 in 1939. Until 1945 the village belonged to the Kreuzburg OS district

As a result of the Second World War, Wilmsdorf fell under Polish administration in 1945, like most of Silesia . Subsequently, the place was renamed Dobiercice and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 it was incorporated into the Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place came to the newly founded Powiat Kluczborski ( Kreuzburg district ).

Attractions

  • The Roman Catholic Church of St. Johannes von Dukla was built in 1861 in neo-Romanesque style as a Protestant church. Since 1945 it has served as a Catholic church. The building has been a listed building since 2007.
  • The Wilmsdorf Castle was built in the mid-19th century. There is a decorative wooden veranda at the entrance to the house. The original neo-Gothic ornaments on the facade have only been partially preserved. Today there are private apartments in the castle.
  • The castle park directly adjacent to the castle is 3.21 hectares in size.
