Sierosławice ( German Schiroslawitz , also Schieroslawitz , 1936-1945 Grenzfelde ) is a place of Gmina Byczyna in the Opole Voivodeship in Poland .

Geographical location

Sierosławice is located in the northwestern part of Upper Silesia in the Kreuzburger Land. One kilometer north of the village is the border with the Łódź Voivodeship . The village of Sierosławice is located about seven kilometers east of the municipality of Byczyna , about 21 kilometers north of the district town of Kluczbork and about 68 kilometers northeast of the voivodeship capital Opole .

history

The place is first mentioned in 1414 as Stirczilwicz . The place name is derived from the name of the founder, the village of Sieroslaw .

In 1845 there was a castle, a distillery and another 21 houses in the village. In the same year 200 people lived in Schiroslawitz, 54 of them Catholic and six Jewish. In 1861 there were 295 people in Schiroslawitz. In 1874 the district Roschkowitz was founded, to which Schiroslawitz was incorporated.

In 1933 there were 288 people in Schiroslawitz. On May 27, 1936, the place name was changed to Grenzfelde . In 1939, 339 people lived in Grenzfelde. Until 1945 the village belonged to the Kreuzburg OS district

As a result of the Second World War, Grenzfelde fell under Polish administration in 1945, like most of Silesia . Subsequently, the place was renamed Sarnów and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 it was incorporated into the Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place came to the newly founded Powiat Kluczborski ( Kreuzburg district ).
