Borek ( German Borek , 1935-1945 woods ) is a place of Gmina Byczyna in the Opole Voivodeship in Poland .

Geographical location
Borek is located in the northwestern part of Upper Silesia in the Kreuzburger Land. The village of Borek is located about six kilometers northeast of the municipality of Byczyna , about 23 kilometers northeast of the district town of Kluczbork and about 70 kilometers northeast of the voivodeship capital Opole . One kilometer north of the village is the border with the Łódź Voivodeship .
The border river Prosna flows north of the village . Between until 1939 this formed the border with Poland .

history
The village is first mentioned as 1368. The name comes from Polish and means something like wood .
The village belonged to the Roschkowitz municipality until 1843 . On January 14, 1869 , a school was opened in the village under the then owner of the Roschkowitz estate, Wilhelm von Taubadel .
In 1933 there were 267 people in Borek. On September 13, 1935, the name of the place was in Groves changed. In 1939 there was still 267 residents there. Until 1945 the village belonged to the Kreuzburg OS district
As a result of the Second World War, forests fell under Polish administration in 1945, like most of Silesia . The place was subsequently renamed Borek and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 it was incorporated into the Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place came to the newly founded Powiat Kluczborski ( Kreuzburg district ).
