The Gmina Byczyna [ bɨˈʧɨna ] is a town-and-country municipality in the powiat Kluczborski of the Opole Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the city of the same name ( German Pitschen ) with about 3650 inhabitants.
geography
The municipality is located in the north-western part of Upper Silesia and in the north of the voivodeship. It has an approximately 20 km long border with the Łódź Voivodeship . It borders in the south on the district town of Kluczbork (Kreuzburg OS) . The voivodeship capital Opole is about 60 kilometers away.
history
The municipality has belonged to the Opole Voivodeship since 1950, which changed its layout several times until 1999.
