Sarnów ( German Sarnau ) is a place of Gmina Byczyna in the Opole Voivodeship in Poland .

Geographical location
Sarnów is located in the northwestern part of Upper Silesia in the Kreuzburger Land. The village of Sarnów is located around five kilometers south of Byczyna , around 11 kilometers north of the district town of Kluczbork and around 60 kilometers northeast of the voivodeship capital Opole .
The village is located on the Proschlitzer Bach (Polish Pratwa ), a left tributary of the Prosna . The state road Droga krajowa 11 runs through the village . To the northeast of the village is the Biskupice koło Kluczborka station , a stop on the Kluczbork – Poznań railway line .

history
The village is first mentioned in 1506. Hanusz Ezammer is mentioned in a document as the owner of the village of Sarnau.
The village of Sarnau was founded as a colony. The Slavic name Sarnów is derived from the Polish word Sarna (dt. Deer ). The village name can be roughly translated as Rehdorf or Rehfeld .
In 1845 there was a castle, an outer works and a further 24 houses in the village. In the same year, 221 people lived in Sarnau, 30 of them Catholic. In 1861 there were 264 people in Sarnau. In 1874 the district of Bischdorf was founded, to which Sarnau was incorporated.
In 1933 there were 370 people in Sarnau, and in 1939 again 339 people. Until 1945 the village belonged to the Kreuzburg OS district
As a result of the Second World War, Sarnau fell under Polish administration in 1945, like most of Silesia . Subsequently, the place was renamed Sarnów and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 it was incorporated into the Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place came to the newly founded Powiat Kluczborski ( Kreuzburg district ).
Attractions
- The Sarnau Castle was built in the turn of the 18th and 19th century in the classical style. In 1913 the building was rebuilt on behalf of Alfred Schmirgel.
- The former palace park is still partially preserved.
