history
The village was built on the site of the Donskaya fortress , which was built in 1777 as part of the Mosdok - Azov line of defense , which marked the southern border of the Russian Empire as a result of the Treaty of Küçük Kaynarca . Don Cossacks from the Chopjor region were initially settled near the fortress, and after the loss of military importance due to the southern expansion of the empire, farmers from southern central Russia and north-eastern Ukraine from 1801 also settled .
On January 23, 1935, Donskoye was joined to the newly created Trunovskoye Rajon, which, like its administrative center Trunovskoye (previously Ternovskoye ) , located a good ten kilometers to the east, was also named after the red civil war hero Konstantin Trunov, who was born there.
During the Second World War , Donskoye was occupied by the German Wehrmacht from August 1942 to January 1943 .
On February 1, 1963, Trunovskoye Raion was dissolved and attached to the neighboring Isobilny Raion, but on December 11, 1970 it was restored within its current boundaries, now with its center in Donskoye.
