Novoalexandrovsk ( Russian: Новоалександровск ) is a city in the Stavropol region ( Russia ) with 26,757 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The city is located in the northern Caucasus foothills about 110 km southwest of the regional capital Stavropol on the Rasschewatka in the river system of the Manych .
Novoalexandrovsk is the administrative center of the raion of the same name .
The city lies on the railway line Kropotkin ( Kawkasskaya station ) - Stavropol - Elista, opened on this section in 1897 . The city's station is called Rasschewatka .
history
Urban development
The place was in 1804 by settlers from the provinces of central Russia as a village of Novo-Aleksandrovskoye established (after the then Tsar I. Alexander , Novo- Russian for newly ). 1832 the village received as Nowoalexandrowskaja the status of a Cossack stanitsa .
In 1971 it was granted city rights.

Novoalexandrovsk is the center of an agricultural area with a food industry oriented towards it. There is also a building materials business and a factory for canning jars.
