Gorjatschewodski ( Russian Горячево́дский ) is an urban-type settlement in the North Caucasian region of Stavropol with 36,967 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The settlement is located on the northern edge of the Greater Caucasus about 200 kilometers southeast of the regional capital Stavropol on the right bank of the Podkumok , a right tributary of the Kuma . From the right, the Juza flowing through the settlement flows into the Podkumok.
Goryachevodsky is subordinate to the administration of the city of Pyatigorsk , to which it is directly connected to the southeast. Immediately to the west on the same river bank extends the settlement Svobody, which is also part of Pyatigorsk . To the north rises the 993 meter high mountain Maschuk .
Goryachevodsky is the most populous place in Russia with the status of urban-type settlement .
history
In 1966 the place received the status of an urban-type settlement .
The name of the settlement was derived from the Russian gorjatschije wody for hot (medicinal) water and refers to the medicinal springs in the area. Also, the original name of the city of Pyatigorsk was until 1830 Gorjatschewodsk .

There are mechanical engineering and food processing plants in Goryachevodsky.
Goryachevodsky is located on the M29 Rostov-on-Don - Azerbaijani border (bypass road northeast around Pyatigorsk and districts).
A section of the Pyatigorsk tram leads to Goryachevodsk .
