Location of Dornmühle in Bavaria

Dornmühle is a district of the town of Treuchtlingen in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen . The desert has 7 inhabitants (as of 1987) and is at an altitude of about 432 meters above sea level.

Geographical location, traffic

The place is located in the southern Franconian Jura southwest of Wettelsheim in the Rohrach valley floor . Dornmühle can be reached via several smaller roads from the direction of Wettelsheim.

history

The place name is interpreted as "mill on the thorn bushes / on the thorn hedges (perhaps as a protective system)". A Roman estate was discovered south of the mill through aerial archeology .

The mill is first mentioned in 1493; at that time the "Dornmiller" had to pay taxes to the Wülzburg monastery . Documents from 1520 and 1537 are similar. With the monastery, the mill later came to the Margraves of Brandenburg-Ansbach ; In 1732 it is said that the mill is a grinding mill for the Wettelsheim judges' office and that it is parish to Wettelsheim, where the tithe was to be paid. The mill was under the jurisdiction of the Ansbach Oberamt Hohentrüdingen .

In the Kingdom of Bavaria , the Dornmühle was added to the Wettelsheim tax district, which became a rural community in 1808 . In 1824 10 people lived in Dornmühle, 14 in 1950, and 6 in 1961. In the course of the regional reform in Bavaria , Wettelsheim and with it the Dornmühle were incorporated into Treuchtlingen in the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district on July 1, 1972. In 1987 seven people lived in the Dornmühle building.

The grinding plant and the wood saw were shut down around 1900. In 1984 one reads that the property is a "purely agricultural full-time business".
