Doru Tureanu (born January 11, 1954 in Bucharest , † March 11, 2014 there ) was a Romanian ice hockey player and coach .
Career
Doru Tureanu spent his entire club career in his hometown with Dinamo Bucharest , for which he played in the Romanian ice hockey league from 1970 to 1987 . During this period, he and his team won the national championship title six times (1971, 1972, 1973, 1976, 1979 and 1981). Both at Dinamo and in the national team, he played together with Marian Costea and Dumitru Axinte in an attacking formation. After the end of his active career, he briefly coached the Romanian national ice hockey team .
In 2011 he was only the second Romanian to be inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame after Eduard Pană . After the divorce from his wife, Tureanu withdrew more and more from the public. In 2013 he lost his apartment and was admitted to a sanatorium , from which he fled a little later. Tureanu suffered a stroke on March 2, 2014 , from the consequences of which he died on March 11, 2014 in Bucharest's Spitalul Colentina .
International
For Romania , Tureanu took part in the C World Championships in 1971 , 1972 , 1973 , 1974 , 1975 , 1977 , 1978 , 1980 , 1981 , 1982 , 1983 , 1984 , 1985 , 1986 and 1987 as well as the B World Championships in 1976 and 1979 . He was also in his country's squad at the Winter Olympics in Innsbruck in 1976 and in Lake Placid in 1980 .
In total, Tureanu completed over 100 international matches, in which he scored 74 goals and 39 assists (a total of 112 points scorer).
