Eduard Rauch

Eduard Rauch (born March 3, 1900 in Kleinmünchen near Linz , † July 20, 1979 in Gmunden ) was an Upper Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and elementary school teacher. From 1959 to 1967 he was a member of the Upper Austrian Parliament and from 1961 to 1967 he was the third President of the State Parliament.

education and profession

Rauch graduated from the elementary school in Kleinmünchen and the community school in Waldegg before he switched to the Catholic Teachers' Training Institute in Linz , where he graduated from high school in 1919 . As a result, he worked briefly as a teacher in Steyr, was then unemployed and made his way as a typist in the Kleinmünchen municipal office. In 1920 he got a job as a district assistant teacher for the Linz-Land district, from 1922 he was a teacher and permanent teacher in Kirchberg near Linz, Niederneukirchen and Windischgarsten. In 1938 he was dismissed from school for political reasons and transferred to the one-class school in Linden. He served three and a half years in World War II and was captured by US forces on May 6, 1945. After his release in August 1945, he was reinstated at the school in Linden and then promoted to director of the Windischgarsten elementary school as part of reparations. He held this position until his retirement in 1965.

politics

Rauch was active within the party from 1945 to 1970 as chairman of the ÖVP-Windischgartsen and represented his party between 1949 and 1967 as a member of the municipal board of Windischgarsten. He was also the district chairman of the Austrian Workers' Association from 1955 to 1969 and was sworn in as a member of the state parliament on September 23, 1959. He stayed in this position until November 16, 1967 and was the third President of the State Parliament from November 17, 1961.

Private

Eduard Rauch was born as the son of the weaver Johann Rauch and his wife Julia, née Reif, where his father was a Christian Social Member of the Upper Austrian Parliament. He grew up as the fifth of ten children. Eduard Reich married Eugenie Pointner in 1930, who had three children and who suddenly died in 1959. He was subsequently married to Maria Anna Ramerstorfer in 1965.
