Gerda Weichsler-Hauer (born June 20, 1961 in Steyr ) is the Upper Austrian social democratic third state parliament president and lives in Steyr. The eldest of nine siblings has an adult son. Weichsler-Hauer is a professional clerk at the Staning Information Center ( Ennskraftwerke AG ), but has been off duty since December 1997.

After attending compulsory school, she graduated from the Steyr Federal Commercial Academy , which she graduated with the Matura in 1980 .

Weichsler-Hauer joined the SPÖ in 1980 and is now deputy women’s and SPÖ district chair in Steyr.

Weichsler-Hauer has been a member of the Upper Austrian Landtag since March 2, 1995 and was elected as the second President of the Landtag in the constituent session on October 31, 1997. After the state elections in Upper Austria in 2015 , she was elected Third President of the State Parliament on October 23, 2015.

In the Upper Austrian Landtag, Weichsler-Hauer is the chairwoman of the constitution, administrative, immunity and incompatibility committee and a simple member of the committee for EU affairs, the committee for women's affairs, the committee of rules of procedure and the committee for housing, nature and landscape protection.

Weichsler-Hauer is active in voluntary functions in the following associations and organizations: Chairwoman of the Steyr Business Association, Chairwoman of the Regional Forum Steyr-Kirchdorf, Chairwoman of the North-South Institute in Upper Austria, Chairwoman of the Steyr Local Group of Friends of Nature, Advisory Board member of the Steyr Music Festival Association, auditor of the Steyr Women's Foundation , Board member of the Austrian-Saharawi Society, chairwoman of the Friends of Nature Upper Austria.
