Fridolin Schröpfer
Fridolin Schröpfer (born July 31, 1892 in Pilsen ; † July 14, 1953 in Bad Ischl ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and postal worker. Schröpfer was a member of the Upper Austrian Landtag from 1931 to 1934 and from 1945 to 1953, and from 1949 its second president.
education and profession
After finishing school, Schröpfer worked as a postal worker in Ebensee from 1910 and was transferred to Bad Ischl in 1912 . He did his military service from 1913 and was assigned to Infantry Regiment No. 59 . As a result he was in military service until 1919 and was among other things in the military post in Bosnia. After he was arrested in 1934 and sent into temporary retirement, he was called up again for the postal service during World War II. However, he was not allowed to work in Bad Ischl, but was employed in Tamsweg , Wels and Steyr .
Politics and functions
Schröpfer joined the Social Democratic Party in 1919 and was involved as chairman of the Bad Ischl Postal Union from 1920. In 1924 he became a member of the Chamber for Workers and Employees and the District School Council. Within the party, he took over the function of chairman of the Social Democratic Party in Bad Ischl from 1926 and was councilor of the community from 1924. In the same year he was elected to the office of vice mayor, from 1929 he was also a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament. As a result of the February fighting in 1934 , he lost his seat in the state parliament on March 12, 1934 and was arrested.
Schröpfer continued his political career after the Second World War, taking over the office of mayor of Bad Ischl on November 2, 1945, which he held until his death. He was also sworn in as a member of the state parliament on December 13, 1945 and held this office until his death. In addition, he held the office of Second President of the State Parliament from March 2, 1949 to October 1, 1952. Schröpfer was also a member of the supervisory board of the Salzkammergut local railway, vice-president of the Upper Austria transport council, co-founder of the Dachstein cable car and chairman of the Salzkammergut spa association.
