Lelio Spannocchi , born as Lelio Graf Spannocchi , (born October 20, 1911 in Aigen near Salzburg ; † March 15, 1986 in Sarleinsbach , Upper Austria ) was an Austrian politician and state official.

Life

origin

Lelio Spannocchi was born as the second of three children of Anton Graf Spannocchi and Gabriele Countess von Attems in 1911 in Aigen Castle near Salzburg . His mother was the granddaughter of Moritz Graf O'Donnell, the brother of Maximilian Karl Graf O´Donell von Tyrconell , who saved Emperor Franz-Josef from the assassination attempt by Janos Libényi in 1853 and was allowed to build a villa in Salzburg's Mirabell Gardens as a reward . Lelio's brother was the future Austrian general Emil Spannocchi (1916–1992).

Education and political work

After attending the Stiftsgymnasium in Seitenstetten , he passed his Matura in 1930 and began studying law at the University of Vienna . Due to relocations, he continued his studies in Grenoble and finally received his doctorate in 1935 at the University of Innsbruck .

In his job he made a name for himself as an employee of various district authorities in the area of ​​the Styrian provincial government and from 1945 as an administrative officer in the area of ​​Upper Austria and as head of the finance department in the office of the Upper Austrian provincial government. From 1947 to 1956 he held the office of District Captain of Rohrbach in Upper Austria , from 1969 to 1973 he was a member of the Upper Austrian provincial government .

After the National Council election in 1970 , he was active from March 31, 1970 to May 4, 1971 as a member of the ÖVP in the Austrian National Council. From 1973 to 1979 he served as a member of parliament and also as the first president of the Upper Austrian state parliament .

Spannocchi died on March 15, 1986 at the age of 74 at Sprinzenstein Castle in Sarleinsbach.

His marriage to Gabriele Countess von Sprinzenstein and Neuhaus (* 1909) on September 14, 1942 resulted in the children Katharina (* 1943), Hieronymus (* 1946), Almerie (* 1948) and Veronika (* 1953). Sprinzenstein Castle , which came into family ownership through his marriage, is now owned by his son Hieronymus.
