history
The area around Eggartsberg was originally a royal estate and came in 1146 as a gift from King Konrad III. to the Rein monastery . A short time later, the clearing and settlement of the area began, so that today's place was built between the 11th and 13th centuries. The first written mention of the place took place between 1494 as the Egarten . Further mentions followed in 1541 as in the Egarten , in 1822 as Eggersberg and finally in 1882 as Eggartsberg .
The inhabitants of Eggartsberg belonged to various manors until 1848, such as the Gurtzen office of the Greißenegg rule , the Kainach office of the Lankowitz rule , the Tregist office of the Obervoitsberg rule and the Geistthal and Södingberg offices of the Rein monastery. Eggartsberg belonged to the advertising district of Rein Abbey. For the period around 1840, three toll mills and three board saws are occupied in Eggartsberg and the residents mostly lived from agriculture and cattle breeding.
Due to a storm on August 12, 1927, all mills and sawmills in Eggartsberg were damaged and partially destroyed. At least until 1970 there was a sawmill in town.
Economy and Infrastructure
Dietenberg is characterized by agriculture, with arable farming and cattle breeding playing an important role. At least until 1970 there was a sawmill in town.
The local children attend school in Sankt Pankrazen .
Sights and buildings
The listed Ferschenbrett court chapel is located in Eggartsberg. There is also the Kollegerkreuz, a tabernacle shrine that was probably built as a plague cross in the 17th century . The Luckner Cross, a pillar shrine, was erected on the site of an old wayside cross on the road from Södingtal to Voitsberg . Its four niches were originally designed with glue paint pictures by Heribert Deutsch before they were redesigned in 1985 by Franz Weiss . The main niche shows God the Father with the Old Testament , next to it is a depiction of Saint Florian . There is a portrait of the Trinity on the back . On the border between Eggartsberg and Gschnaidt, the Richalm Cross was erected as a pilgrim's shrine on the way to Sankt Pankrazen in the 18th century . In its niche there is an oil print of St. Pancras . The Luefkreuz on the border between Geistthal, Södingberg and Gschnaidt is a pillar shrine built in the 19th century and houses a Lourdes Madonna.
The smokehouse United Schrotter, which originally stood in Eggartsberg in 1971 from the open-air museum Stübing bought, dismantled and the open air museum translocated . It is a two-storey house from 1567, the origins of which can be dated back to 1395. The house shows the typical style of farms in western Styria. The ground floor has a quarry stone masonry over which timber block construction was built. In addition to the main house, there is an annex with a tiled room built as a return in 1728 . There is a large smoking room in the main house. The brick cellar served as a stable while the upper floor served as a pantry. The rafter roof is covered with shingles made of spruce wood , which are laid in a herringbone pattern .
