Emanuel is a first name and family name .

Origin and meaning

Emanuel is a Greek-Latin modification of the Hebrew first name Immanuel , which is used today in Greek and German , as well as in the form Manuel in Spanish and Portuguese . The original Hebrew meaning is God is with us (עִמָּנוּ אֵל im with; immanu with us; el God). This name is the subject of a promise with the biblical prophet Isaiah ( Isa 7,14  EU ). In the Gospel of Matthew in the New Testament , the name is related to Jesus Christ ( Mt 1,23  EU ).
