Ennerich is a district of the town of Runkel in the Limburg-Weilburg district in Central Hesse .
geography
The place is around half a kilometer south of the Lahn, almost in the middle of the Limburg basin , around 2.5 kilometers southwest of the core town of Runkel and around four kilometers east of the district town of Limburg an der Lahn . The place is divided into three separate parts of the settlement: in the west, which merges directly into the houses of the Limburg district of Eschhofen, the industrial area "Großmannswiese", in the middle a mixed new building and industrial area as well as the original place in the east separated by the floodplain of the Emsbach . The Main-Lahn-Bahn runs on the southern edge of the town, the Lahntalbahn runs through a tunnel north of the town. Neither of the two railway lines has a stop in town. The Emsbach flowing from southeast to northwest describes a double curve near Ennerich, so that it flows in a section from south to north.
The district is roughly triangular in shape, with a point towards the southwest. It borders in the north over a short distance on the neighboring district of Dehrn , in the northeast on Steeden , in the east on the core town Runkel , in the south on Lindenholzhausen and in the west on Eschhofen , both of the latter districts of Limburg an der Lahn . The place itself is between 120 and 150 meters high. While the terrain barely rises above 120 meters in the south, there is a step to the north and east of the Emsbach, on the slope of which the old town center is located. In the east the terrain rises gently to up to 175 meters, while the height differences in the north on the narrow strip towards the Lahn valley are more abrupt and can be reached up to 170 meters.
The agricultural area takes up 108 of the 270 hectare municipal area, forest covers 60 hectares and the built-up area 17 hectares. The north-western part of the district consists of mixed forest, which belongs to a larger piece of forest that is also covered over neighboring markings. To the south of the village there is a small wooded area that Ennerich shares with Lindenholzhausen. To the north of Ennerich, a strip of forest around a hundred meters wide flanks the southern bank of the Lahn. Only a small part of this is located around the “Blücherschanze” in the Ennericher area; the rest belongs to the core town of Runkel.
history
Ennerich was mentioned for the first time in a deed of donation from Charlemagne to the Prüm monastery from 790. The name "Aendriche" at that time is interpreted as a Celtic word formation. In 1366 Ennerich belonged to the County of Diez , shortly afterwards it was first transferred as a pledge, in 1376 completely to the rule of Runkel .
The town's chapel was first mentioned in 1365. Later the chapel may have belonged to a nearby Franciscan monastery . In essence, today's building should still resemble the original form of a Romanesque chapel.
The “ Blücherschanze ” is located in a wooded area north of the village . Originally it was created in the coalition wars on September 16, 1796 by coalition troops. In 1813/14 around 250 soldiers from Blücher's army were buried there, who had died in a military hospital at Runkel Castle ; mainly from typhus . Today a memorial stone erected in 1926 commemorates them.
In 1910 the place received electricity, in 1911 running water. In the 1950s, the first houses in the new development area west of the Emsbach were built.
On December 1, 1970 , the previously independent municipality of Ennerich and other municipalities merged with the city of Runkel as part of the regional reform in Hesse . This made Ennerich a district of Runkel.
In 1995 the construction of the industrial area began on the local border to Eschhofen, one year later the community center was inaugurated.
