Erdmann von Pückler (politician, 1792)

Count Erdmann III. von Pückler (born April 4, 1792 in Rogau near Breslau ; † November 4, 1869 in Schedlau , Upper Silesia ) was a German nobleman , Prussian minister of agriculture and politician.

Life

He came from the Silesian line of the Counts of Pückler on Schedlau . His father was Erdmann II. Count von Pückler (1755-1819). His mother was Johanna Friederike Margarethe (1763–1834), b. Freiin von Czettritz and Neuhaus on Seitendorf .

Career

He entered the Prussian military service and was a cadet in 1805/06. He was wounded in 1813 and entered civilian life in 1814. He was a manor and farmer in Silesia. He owned the Schedlau rule. There he had the castle significantly redesigned in the 1850s. Other properties also belonged to him. In addition, from 1815 he was state elder in the Falkenberg district . The area of ​​his " rule with the localities Schedlau, Mullwitz, Guhrau, Heidersdorf and Groditz " located in this district was given in November 1858 as " 8074 acres ".

Later he entered the Prussian administrative service. In 1828 he was a councilor at the General Commission in Berlin . Between 1835 and 1858 he was President of the Government in Opole .

Since 1840 Count Pückler belonged to the Provincial Parliament of Silesia . He played an important role there. From 1842 he was a member of the United Committees of the Provincial Parliaments.

In August 1848 he should be persuaded to resign as president of the government, but remained in office. By the highest decree of November 6, 1858 (taking office: November 8), he became the Prussian Minister of Agriculture in the Ministry of the New Era and held this office until the end of the New Era in March 1862.

In March 1859, Pückler gave the impetus to fill the " extraordinary professorship in agriculture that had remained vacant since October 1854 " at Berlin University. He supported the application of private lecturer Carl Schulz-Fleeth , who was awarded this position in January 1860.

In 1849 and 1850 he was a member of the first chamber of the Prussian state parliament and from 1854 a member of the manor house .

In 1905, Pücklerstrasse in Berlin-Grunewald was named after him.

family

On April 16, 1826 , he married Johanna, geb. Freiin von Eckardstein (born October 28, 1808). The marriage resulted in seven daughters and the only son Erdmann IV. Count von Pückler (1832–1888).
