Eric Rosenfeld is a Luxembourg singer and guitarist who is active in the punk bands Versus You and Adoptees . In his project Communicaution, founded in 2004, he sings his own compositions and mostly accompanies himself with the acoustic guitar .

Life

Rosenfeld took guitar lessons at the age of nine and got his first guitar as a gift. Two years later he discovered punk for himself. He wrote his first songs only a little later in English and then implemented them with other musicians. According to his own statements, he has played in around 30 bands to date.

history

Although he played in many bands, he still had time to write his own songs. At some point he had too much material to record with a band , so Rosenfeld decided to record the songs himself and publish them under the name Communica (u) tion.

The inspiration for the lyrics and the music comes from everyday life. Also, depression and panic attacks are discussed, as well as love, friends, books, artwork and tours .

Bands and musicians like Jawbreaker , The Replacements , Hüsker Dü , Crimpshrine, Wipers, Fifteen, The Psychedelic Furs , The Only Ones, Big Star, The Kinks , Jets To Brazil, The Cure , Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers , Paul Westerberg , Peter Perrett , Greg Sage, Alex Chilton , Bob Dylan , Neil Young , or Donovan all inspired him.

He played the release concert of his album This Monkey Is An Artist in a small cinema , where Sam Raimi's film The Evil Dead was shown on the screen during the performance .

On September 29, 2014, Rosenfeld announced on Communica (u) tion's Facebook page that he would play his last solo show on Friday, October 3 at Exit07 in Hollerich . Afterwards he is accompanied by his friend Charel Stoltz during performances, which means that Communicaution is now a duo.

The first single of the new album is called Make No Sound and was released on Monday, November 10, 2014 via Soundcloud, the accompanying music video was released on the following Wednesday.

The new and fourth album with the title Unfixed was released on December 12, 2014. The album was mostly recorded in Eric's cellar studio in Luxemburg (city) , further recordings were made in the Holtz Sound Studio in Tuntange, where the album was also mixed by Charel Stoltz . The mastering was done by Gavin Murphy in Gothenburg , Sweden . The release party was on the same day in the Kulturfabrik in Esch / Alzette , with the two ska bands PO Box from Nancy and Los Dueños from Luxemburg (city).

Together with drummer Ben Clement, Eric Rosenfeld plays lyrical texts in poetry in the project The Cutting Word , launched in 2017 .
