Erich Rudolf Hartenthaler (born May 9, 1931 in Linz ) is a master organ builder who was formerly based in Freiburg im Breisgau .

Life

Erich Hartenthaler did his organ building apprenticeship at the Gebrüder Mauracher company in Linz on the Danube . From 1945 to 1951 he worked there as an apprentice and journeyman . Then he went to the Hopferwieser brothers company in Graz . In 1953 he moved to the Gebrüder Späth Orgelbau company in Ennetach, Württemberg . There he married Martha Schindler in 1956, with whom he later had four children. In 1960 he passed his master craftsman examination at the Chamber of Crafts in Stuttgart . As a master craftsman, he took over the management of a branch of the Späth company in Freiburg from 1960 to 1964 . When the two Späth brothers separated in 1964, August Späth continued to run the Freiburg business under the name of Freiburger Orgelbau August Späth ; the company exists today under the name of Freiburger Orgelbau Hartwig and Tilmann Späth . Erich Hartenthaler remained in the company as a foreman until 1977. He then switched to the company Fischer & Krämer Orgelbau in Endingen am Kaiserstuhl .

In 1980 he founded his own company, the ER Hartenthaler company . In the first years of operation, the focus was on relocating organs as well as conversions and partially new buildings with the assistance of his wife. Hartenthaler was familiar with the various action and windcharger systems . In 1997 Erich Hartenthaler specialized as a restorer in organ and harmonium building trade in the preservation of older organs. At the end of 2007 he gave up his business at the age of 76.

plant

The company ER Hartenthaler carried out restorations , relocations as well as conversions and partial new constructions of organs, especially in southern Germany. In addition, there were numerous organ maintenance contracts, which means that the corresponding organs were regularly cleaned, overhauled and tuned. Subcontracted by other organ building companies, numerous offers for new buildings were prepared between 1980 and 2007, and construction drawings and other planning documents were created for these companies.
