Ettenhausen an der Nesse is a district of the Hörselberg-Hainich municipality in the Wartburg district of Thuringia with 171 inhabitants.
location
Ettenhausen is located on the northern edge of the Hörselberge in the middle section of the Nesse valley between Hastrungsfeld and Melborn , about 15 kilometers east of Eisenach . The landscape around Ettenhausen is shaped in the east by the breakthrough valley of the Nesse. There is the Hintere Hainaer Holz. The highest point of the district is at 325 m above sea level. NN at Eisenach-Kindel airfield . The total area of the district is 2.74 km².
About thirty kilometers to the southwest, also in the Wartburg district, is a place of the same name: Ettenhausen an der Suhl .
history
After the acquisition of the place by the Lords of Wangenheim Ettenhausen belonged to their Wangenheim court . In the Nessetal there was a change in ownership in the 15th century in favor of the Lords of Herda , who are also known as the lords of the Brandenburg castle near Lauchröden . In addition to Ettenhausen, these also appeared in Wenigenlupnitz and Hastrungsfeld.
On March 8, 1994, the community Ettenhausen an der Nesse lost its independence and was incorporated into the Wenigenlupnitz community , which became part of the Hörselberg community on January 1, 1996 . Ettenhausen has been part of the Hörselberg-Hainich community since 2008.
Attractions
The watercress ponds are a sight of the place . Water seeps from the Hörsel through the Hörselberge and emerges from numerous springs in the Nessetal. Its constant temperature of 8 to 10 ° C made it possible to create the ponds and cultivate watercress. The ponds were used intensively until around 1970. After that, the water quality deteriorated and the ponds silted up. The cultivation of watercress was abandoned. The water quality has improved again since 1990 and the reconstruction of a pond has started. The private owners have carried out extensive work on the ponds in recent years to enable the watercress to be grown again. There is a hydropower plant on the Nesse. The local church is also worth seeing .

Ettenhausen is close to the neutrased Autobahn 4 on Landesstrasse 2113. To the north of the autobahn is the Eisenach-Kindel airfield . There is a connection to rail traffic at the Sättelstädt stop of the Thuringian Railway and at Eisenach station .
