history

First, the acquired plant fire brigade of the Volkswagen plant and the fire of 1938 founded City of the KdF car , now Wolfsburg. In 1939 the first call to found a volunteer fire brigade did not bring the hoped-for success. Another call in 1940 was followed by more citizens, so that the "Voluntary Fire Department of the City of the KdF-Wagons" could be founded. In 1941 the establishment was confirmed by the responsible authorities, and in the same year the fire brigade received its first fire station south of Fallerslebener Straße (today's Heinrich-Nordhoff-Straße). A youth fire brigade was founded as early as 1942. The professional fire brigade was founded on April 1, 1952, and today's fire station was built on Dieselstrasse in 1957.

The Wolfsburg Voluntary Fire Brigade is divided into 20 local fire brigades, which came to Wolfsburg in 1972 when their localities were incorporated. In the event of major incidents and if the professional fire brigade cannot leave the scene for the foreseeable future, one of these fire engines, together with one of the two turntable ladders of the priority brigades, occupies the fire station in Dieselstrasse.
