The Wershofen airfield , radio call sign Wershofen-Info , frequency 121.390, ( ICAO code EDRV ) is a special landing site without a control zone in Rhineland-Palatinate , located in the northern Eifel not far from the Nürburgring . The operator is the Segelfluggruppe Wershofen e. V.
Technical specifications
The special landing site is around 2.5 km northwest of the town of Wershofen , around 15 kilometers northwest of the Nürburgring at an altitude of 482 meters. It is only approved for visual flight during the day. The runways are a grass runway of 630 m length for powered flight in the 07/25 orientation and an asphalt runway and a grass runway for glider flight in the 06/24 orientation. The airfield and the winch towing line are 1000 m long. The airport has no fixed operating hours ( PPR ) and is usually open on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The airfield is approved for aircraft up to 2 t MTOW (including helicopters up to 5.7 t), gliders and air sports equipment . Super petrol and diesel can be used on request . There is a restaurant in which coffee, cake and hot dishes are served on weekends from around 11 a.m. (LT) to 8 p.m.
The geographical coordinates are 50 27.12 N, 47.17 E 006 , the traffic pattern altitude for powered flight is 2600 ft MSL (1020 ft MSL GND, only Südplatzrunde (!)). Gliders use both traffic patterns.
History of the airfield
The Wershofen airfield was cleared and drained by the Reich Labor Service in the war years to serve as an emergency landing site. Except for the emergency landing of a Bf 109, it was never used as such .
After the war, the Wershofen glider group, founded in 1952, first flew on an airfield east of the town of Wershofen before the Auf'm Grööne Waasem area was approved as a glider airfield.
In 1993 it was approved as a special landing site. After completion of a land consolidation procedure in 2004, the airfield is fully owned by the Wershofen glider group.

The airfield cannot be reached by public transport. The next train stations are in Blankenheim-Wald , Bad Münstereifel and Ahrbrück .
The next motorway junction is Blankenheim (Ahr) / Tondorf of the A1 (end of the motorway).
particularities
Since 2002, around Ascension Day, the Eifeler Regional Cup has been a gliding competition in Wershofen. In 2009, a central gliding championship was held on the airfield for the first time with the Eifeler Junior Cup as a qualification championship for the German Junior Championship.
