The Forces Armées Centrafricaines make up the military of the République Centrafricaine with 3,150 soldiers . It has the armed forces of the Army and Air Force . Due to the country's inland location, it has no navy .

General

The conscription period is two years, but there is a selective conscription to the military.

The defense budget in 2004 was 15.5 million US dollars .

army

The Central African Army with 2,000 members has u. a. four T-55 - battle tanks , eight Ferret Radpanzer , a BRDM-2 - Spähpanzer , ten VAB - transport tanks , four BTR-152 -Transportpanzer, 25 ACMAT vehicles and three OT-90 armored personnel carriers tanks.

air force

The air force with around 150 soldiers has six to ten Aermacchi AL-60s and one Eurocopter AS 350 available.

Gendarmerie

The Central African Gendarmerie with 1,000 members is subordinate to the Ministry of the Interior, but is part of the Central African military.

Calls

In 2012 the FAC sent 350 soldiers to Obo as part of the Regional Task Force .
