Fozzano

Fozzano ( Corsican Fuzzà ) is a municipality on the French Mediterranean island of Corsica . It belongs to the Corse-du-Sud department , the Sartène arrondissement and the Sartenais-Valinco canton . The residents call themselves Fozzanais .

Fozzano is known for the 1840 novella Colomba by the French writer Prosper Mérimée (1803-1870). Colomba Carabelli was a figure in Corsican contemporary history in the 19th century.

Fozzano is about 350 meters above sea level. Neighboring communities are Santa-Maria-Figaniella in the north, Loreto-di-Tallano in the northeast, Sainte-Lucie-de-Tallano in the east, Olmiccia in the southeast, Arbellara in the south, Viggianello in the southwest, Olmeto in the northwest.
