Fragagnano (in the local dialect: Fragnànu ) is a south-eastern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 5134 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Taranto in Apulia . The municipality is located about 20.5 kilometers west-southwest of Taranto in Salento . Fragagnano belongs to the Unione di comuni "Terre del Mare e del Sole" , an association of several municipalities in the eastern part of the province of Taranto.
history
In 1905, archaeological finds in the village of Mancini revealed the remains of settlements dating back to 313 BC. From 700 onwards, the current location appears in cartographies.

The Strada Statale 7ter Via Appia runs through the municipality from Taranto to Lecce .
