La Française des Jeux (FdJ for short) is the state lottery company in France . With a turnover of 8.553 billion euros (2004), it is the fifth largest lottery operator in the world. There are a total of over 40,000 sales outlets, an average of 29 million players take part in the draws, the game system is "6 out of 49". FdJ also participates in the European lottery Euro Millions .

FdJ also operates all sports betting in France, with the exception of horse racing , which is the responsibility of the private company PMU .
