Francisco Rodríguez (politician)

Francisco Rodríguez (born November 24, 1938 in the Herrera province ) was the 42nd President of Panama .

Rodríguez took over on September 1, 1989 as the successor to Manuel Solís Palma as President of Panama until December 20, 1989. Like his predecessor, he belonged to the Partido Revolucionario Democrático . He was the last of the so-called “Kleenex presidents” who had hardly any relevant power over the de facto ruler of Panama, Manuel Noriega , and who were mostly replaced after a few years.

Rodríguez resigned in the course of the US invasion of Panama .

He was succeeded by Guillermo Endara Galimany .
