French football coach of the year
The French football coach of the year ("Entraîneur français de l'année") has been chosen every calendar year since 1971 by the specialist magazine France Football . Aimé Jacquet , Jean-Claude Suaudeau , Guy Roux , Rudi Garcia and Didier Deschamps have each won this award three times, which is the most frequently.
Nowadays, all trainers with French nationality are eligible, regardless of where they are employed. Since 2008, the selection has not been made by the editors of France Football , but by a jury made up of all former, still living award winners (see below) and the editor-in-chief of the magazine. Also at this point in time, the jurors received from the editors a list of candidates comprising 15 names from which they had to make their choice. They award five (since 2016: six) points for their favorite, four for what they think is the second, three for the third, two for the fourth and one for the fifth best coach.
