Friedrich Wilhelm August Erdmann Graf von Pückler , Baron von Groditz (born May 29, 1786 in Schweidnitz , † July 3, 1856 in Mallmitz ) was a Prussian lieutenant general , Lord of Kempen (Posen) and Knight of Honor of the Order of St. John .

Friedrich was the son of Friedrich Johann Ludwig Erdmann von Pückler (born January 26, 1756 - † November 11, 1806) and his wife Auguste Christiane Charlotte, born von Erlach (* November 7, 1767 - † February 22, 1817), a daughter of General Friedrich August von Erlach . His father was a Prussian Premier Lieutenant a. D. , most recently in the “von Erlach” infantry regiment and Mr. auf Gimmel.

Life

Pückler visited the Knights Academy in Legnica and entered on 19 July 1803 as an ensign in the regiment of dragoons "Prittwitz" the Prussian army one. There he was promoted to Second Lieutenant on April 1, 1806 and took part in the Battle of Jena during the Fourth Coalition War. Pückler was able to evade the capitulation of Prenzlau , fled to East Prussia and took part in the fighting at Prussian Eylau and Soldau . For his brave conduct during the war, he was promoted to lieutenant prime on May 10, 1808 out of turn. In 1809, Pückler joined Schill's platoon and on October 10, 1809, was aggregated into the 2nd Brandenburg Hussar Regiment . In 1810 he had to answer to a court martial because of his participation in the Schill train , but was acquitted. Thereupon Pückler was aggregated on May 10, 1811 as a staff commander of the 2nd Silesian Hussar Regiment and on March 21, 1812 assigned to General von Grawert.

During the Wars of Liberation , Pückler proved himself as a patrol officer and with the Freikorps that operated behind the French lines. He fought at the siege of Thionville and at Großgörschen . At Bautzen he acquired the Iron Cross 2nd class. He also fought at the Katzbach , Leipzig , Laon and Paris . He was also in the battles at Colditz, Rochlitz, Königswartha, Haynau , Liegnitz, Löwenberg, Goldberg, Nauenburg an der Saale, Saint-Dizier , Vitry, Soissons , Coulommiers, Claye , Meaux, Trilport, Montmirail and Saarlouis. For his work in the battle near Altenburg, Pückler was awarded the Iron Cross 1st Class. In the time he was on 2 December 1813, the National Cavalry Regiment offset for the April 18, 1814 captain and commander of hunters - detachment appointed. On February 21, 1815, he was transferred to the Guard Hussar Regiment as squadron chief .

On March 30, 1817, Pückler was promoted to major with a patent from March 31, 1817 . In 1825 he was awarded the service cross . He came to Breslau on March 25, 1841 and took over the 11th Cavalry Brigade . On January 18, 1842, Pückler was appointed senior of the Iron Cross, 2nd class, and on January 21, 1847, he was awarded the Commander's Cross of the Order of Henry the Lion . Pückler retired from active service on March 4, 1848 with the statutory pension, conferring the character of Lieutenant General . After his departure, King Friedrich Wilhelm IV awarded him the Order of the Red Eagle First Class with Oak Leaves on October 14, 1848 . He died on July 3, 1856 on Mallmitz, his son-in-law's estate.

Pückler married on 24 December 1812 in Muskau Agnes Ursula Luitgardis Klara Countess of Pückler (* Oct. 5, 1794, † March 26, 1837) out of the house Muskau. The couple had several children:
