The District League Potsdam 1955 was the fourth edition of the District League Potsdam carried out by the District Technical Committee (BFA) Football Potsdam . With the installation of the second GDR league , the district league was still the highest division in the Potsdam district , but only the fourth highest in the league system in the DFV area .
This season was a transitional round, as the championship was aligned with the calendar year based on the Soviet model from 1956 and therefore the time between the end of the 1954/55 season in summer 1955 and the beginning of the 1956 season in spring should be bridged. The schedule only provided for 13 game days.
Motor Hennigsdorf was able to successfully defend its district championship title from the previous year, but had no right of promotion to the superordinate 2nd GDR league in the transition round.
There were no relegated teams to one of the subordinate district classes, but by increasing the number of teams to 16 for the following season, the BFA Potsdam decided that the BSG Lokomotive Köritz and the previous year's relegated Aufbau Zehdenick were promoted.
