The Potsdam district league in 1959 was the eighth edition of the Potsdam district league organized by the district technical committee (BFA) football Potsdam . It was the highest division in the Potsdam district and the fourth highest in the league system in the DFV area .

BSG Lokomotive Kirchmöser , who was relegated from the previous year , became district champion and returned to the higher-ranking II. GDR league after a year of absence .

Last year's climbers Eintracht Glindow, progress Luckenwalde and Lokomotive Neustadt descended into one of the subordinate district classes . In return, the four season winners, Lokomotive Wittstock , Empor Potsdam , Chemie Brieselang and, after a one-year absence, Eintracht Miersdorf, were promoted to the district league for the following season .
