European Championship finals

Finland met hosts Sweden in preliminary group A as in 2005 and Denmark as in 2005 and 2009 as well as Italy for the first time at a European Championship . Against Denmark, the Finns were able to prevail at the EM 2005 due to the direct comparison as group runners-up behind Sweden and thus reached the semi-finals, where they failed to record European champions Germany. At the home European championship in 2009 they were even winners of the preliminary group, but then lost to England in the quarter-finals.

The Finnish team could not build on the results of the home European championships, even if only the game against hosts Sweden was lost, the Finnish team was eliminated as the bottom of the group. The only goal for the Finnish team was scored by Annica Sjölund in their last game against Denmark.
