The national soccer team of Réunion is the selection team of the French overseas department of Réunion . It is organized by the Ligue Réunionnaise de Football, a regional sub-organization of the French federation Fédération Française de Football .
Réunion is not a member of the world football association FIFA and therefore does not take part in qualifying matches for football world championships . La Réunion is only an associated member of the continental association CAF , which does not entitle the team to participate in the qualifying games for the Africa Cup . The national team also takes part in the Coupe de l'Outre-Mer , the competition for national teams from France's overseas territories . In 2008 and 2012, Réunion won the trophy. In 1979, 1998, 2007 and 2015 they also won gold at the Indian Ocean Island Games .
In addition, La Réunion has already played a number of international games, most of them against Madagascar , Mauritius and the Seychelles .
In recent times, professional footballers from the island have played an increasingly important role in the French national team .
