Fuller House is an American sitcom directed by Jeff Franklin that premiered from 2016 to 2020. It is a sequel or a follow-up series of the successful sitcom Full House , which was broadcast from 1987 to 1995 on ABC . The first season was released worldwide on February 26, 2016 on Netflix .
In January 2019 it was announced that the series would end with the fifth season.
The main roles are played by the two Tanner sisters DJ ( Candace Cameron Bure ) and Stephanie ( Jodie Sweetin ) as well as DJ's friend Kimmy Gibbler ( Andrea Barber ), who all live in the same house with their children.
action
Like the original series, Fuller House is set in San Francisco, California . At the beginning of the series, DJ Fuller, whose husband Tommy has passed away, moves into their former family home with their three sons Jackson, Max and Tommy, Jr. To help the widow, her sister Stephanie, an aspiring DJ , and Kimmy and her daughter Ramona move into the house. In the second season, Ramona's father Fernando also moves into the house.
Occasionally father Danny Tanner, uncle Jesse Katsopolis, Joey Gladstone, aunt Becky Donaldson-Katsopolis and DJ's ex-boyfriend Steve Hale also come to visit.
production
In August 2014, rumors circulated that Warner Bros. Television was considering producing a sequel to the Full House series. John Stamos , who owns part of the company, tried to produce a new show along with Robert L. Boyett and Jeff Franklin, the show's former producers.
In April 2015 it was reported that the video-on-demand provider Netflix was about to sign a contract to produce 13 episodes of a sequel to Full House called “Fuller House”. It was also reported that Candace Cameron Bure , Andrea Barber and Jodie Sweetin would return as DJ Tanner, Kimmy Gibbler and Stephanie Tanner. However, this was denied by a representative of Netflix. On April 20, 2015, Stamos revealed in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel that the series would now be produced. He also said that the first season will consist of 13 episodes, is slated for 2016, and the series will be mostly about DJ Tanner-Fuller and her family. On April 21, this was officially confirmed by Netflix.
Filming for the first 13 episodes took place from July to November 2015.
In December 2015, the release date of the first season, February 26, 2016, was announced. Carly Rae Jepsen later announced that she would sing Everywhere You Look , the theme song for the series.
The series is produced by Jeff Franklin Productions and Miller-Boyett Productions in association with Warner Horizon Television. Executive producers are Jeff Franklin, Thomas L. Miller, Robert L. Boyett, and John Stamos.
On December 10, 2015, it was announced that the Olsen twins will not be returning. The producers said the show will mention that Michelle Tanner currently resides in New York and is working on a career in the fashion industry, so she no longer lives with her family. However, one production person said that "there is still a chance we'll see the Olsen Twins on the show in a future season."
On March 2, 2016, Netflix extended the series for a second season.
On December 31, 2016, series creator Jeff Franklin announced that the series had been extended by a third season, which now includes 18 episodes instead of the previous 13 episodes.
On September 22, 2017, Netflix released the first nine episodes of the third season. The second half of the third season was released on December 22, 2017.
On January 29, 2018, the series was extended for a fourth season.
In January 2019, the series was extended for an 18-part fifth and final season.
