Göran Sperling
Baron Göran von Sperling , also Jöran or Sperlingh , count since 1687 , (* 26 November July / 6 December 1630 greg. In Rådmansö ; † 12 September July / 22 September 1691 greg. In Narwa ) was a Swedish Field Marshal .
Life
Origin and family
Göran came from the baronial line, naturalized in Sweden in 1632 since 1653 , of the original Mecklenburg noble family Sperling . His parents were the Swedish general and statesman Casper Otto von Sperling (1596–1655) and Elin, née Ulfsparre af Broxvik (1596–1684).
He was married three times. First marriage in 1661 with Freiin Ingeborg Lilliehöök af Fårdala (1639–1675), then in 1676 with Freiin Christina Horn af Aminne († 1683) and finally in 1684 with Märta Fleming (1663–1747). A total of 14 children were born to him, including:
- Helena (1668–1704), ⚭ Henning Rudolf Horn (1651–1730), Swedish general and Imperial Councilor
Career
Sperling was already a student in Uppsala in 1639 , made study trips to Europe from 1650 to 1653, where he was enrolled at the University of Leiden in 1651 , before he became chamberlain to Karl X. Gustav in 1653 .
He then denied an officer career in the Swedish army. In 1654 he was a lieutenant captain , in 1658 a lieutenant colonel and in 1664 a colonel . He was promoted to major general of the infantry in 1676 , became commander in Gothenburg and in the same year governor in Halland. In 1677 he was vice governor of Skåne , Halland and Blekinge . As lieutenant general of the infantry, he became governor of Skåne, Gästrikland , Hälsingland , Medelpad , Ångermanland , Härjedalen and Jämtland in 1679 . With his rise to general of the infantry in 1683 he also became governor of Ingermanland and Kexholm , in 1687 then governor general of Ingermanland, Karelia and Kexholm. Also in 1687 was the elevation to the Swedish count status and in 1689 the introduction (No. 28) to the count class of the Swedish knighthood . In 1690 he was promoted to field marshal.
Sperling took part in the Reichstag in 1654, 1660, 1664, 1668, 1672 and 1682 as Reich Councilor . He was buried in Saint Nikolai Church in Halmstad .
He was the feudal owner of the barony of Nehringen , which had been pledged to Baron Jacob von Pfuel since the 1660s , and since 1655 heir to Sperlingsholm in Halland .
