Gabriella Mary Hoffmann ( Gaby Hoffmann ; born January 8, 1982 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania ) is an American actress .

Private life

Gaby Hoffmann is the daughter of actress and former Warhol superstar Susan Hoffman alias Viva . Her older half-sister Alexandra Auder , from her mother's marriage to the French filmmaker Michel Auder , is also an actress. She grew up in New York City , where she lived in the Chelsea Hotel . Her family later moved to Woodland Hills near Los Angeles .

Career

Hoffmann first appeared in front of the camera in commercials at the age of four. Since making her film debut in 1989 as Kevin Costner's film daughter in Field of Dreams , for which she was awarded the Young Artist Award , she has made films for cinema and television regularly for a decade, was one of the busiest child actresses of her time and was awarded another five times for the Young Artist Award nominated.

She could be seen in Alone With Uncle Buck (1989), Sleepless in Seattle (1993) and Now and Then - Then and Now (1995), among others . Her film Annabelle's greatest wish from 1995, a remake of the fantasy comedy A Crazy Friday from 1976, was remade in 2003 as Freaky Friday with Jamie Lee Curtis as mother and Lindsay Lohan in the role of daughter .

Since 2001, except for a guest role in the series Criminal Intent , she has not been particularly active. It was only in 2007 that she played a role again in the movie Severed Ways .
