Geological wall in the Botanical Volkspark Blankenfelde-Pankow

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The geological wall in the Botanical Volkspark Blankenfelde-Pankow is a geological object in the Botanical Volkspark Blankenfelde-Pankow . The stone wall has monument status as a national geotope .

The geological wall was built between 1891 and 1895 based on a design by the elementary school teacher Eduard Zache in the Humboldthain park . In 1912 it was transferred to the Blankenfelde Botanical Plant. The wall represents an ideal section through the layers of the earth's crust of Central Europe . It consists of 123 types of rock from Brandenburg , the Rhineland , Silesia , Saxony and Thuringia and is 31 meters wide and up to 2.5 meters high. In 2018, the wall was completely cleaned and mostly renovated in cooperation between the Technical University of Berlin and the Association of Geoscientists in Berlin and Brandenburg.
