Georg Wilhelm von Güntersberg

Georg Wilhelm von Güntersberg (* 1714 in Pomerania ; † December 30, 1799 ) was a Prussian officer, most recently a colonel and commander in Infantry Regiment No. 8 , and the last of his family .

Life

Güntersberg began his career in the Prussian Army in 1731 as a private corporal in the "Anhalt-Zerbst" infantry regiment . He was to remain loyal to this regiment throughout his entire service. In 1738 he was promoted to ensign , on December 31, 1742 he was promoted to second lieutenant. In 1744/45 he took part in the Second Silesian War . He was actively involved in the siege of Prague and Cosel, the battle of Hohenfriedberg and the battle near Jaromier. On August 10, 1750, he was promoted to prime lieutenant .

In 1757/63 he took part in the Seven Years' War . Here he was present in the battles near Prague , Breslau , Leuthen , Zorndorf , Liegnitz , Torgau and Freiberg , the siege of Olomouc , the battle near Domstädtl and the attack near Hochkirch . Right at the beginning of the campaign he was promoted on May 10, 1757 to staff captain , on 12 November 1760 to captain and was also head of a company , on June 2, 1772, when peace finally to Major . This was followed by participation in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 with participation in the battles near Niklasberg and Brix. On January 16, 1781 Güntersberg became the commander of Infantry Regiment No. 8, on May 21 of the same year he was promoted to lieutenant colonel with a patent from June 11, 1781 . On May 21, 1783 he was finally promoted to colonel with a patent from May 31, 1783. In the great review of June 1784 he received the order Pour le Mérite . On June 18, 1785 dimittierte Güntersberg with a pension of 400 taler .

He was the last scion of the noble family of Güntersberg . Although he had a natural son August Gottlob, who was legitimized in 1787 and received royal permission to use his father's name and coat of arms, he is said to have died before his father without leaving any descendants.
