Gerpinnes ( Wallonia Djerpene ) is a municipality in the east of the Belgian province of Hainaut . It was created in 1977 as part of a community reform from the merger of six previously independent locations. The three hamlets Fromiée, Hymiée and Les Lausprelle were already part of the Gerpinnes municipality.

Saint Rolendis died in the middle of the 8th century in the Villers-Poterie district. Her grave in the church of Gerpinnes developed into an important place of pilgrimage in the Middle Ages. Even today, a procession in honor of the saint takes place every year at Pentecost, the participants in uniforms from the time of the Napoleonic Wars walk around the 40 km long border of the district.
