Antoing is a municipality in the Belgian province of Hainaut in Wallonia on the border with France.
geography
The municipality is located on the Scheldt , about eight kilometers southeast of Tournai and on the Lille - Liège railway line .
It includes the towns of Antoing (I.), Fontenoy (II.), Maubray (III.), Péronnes-les-Antoing (IV.), Bruyelle (V.) and Calonne (VI.).

history
During the Austrian War of Succession , Fontenoy was the scene of the Battle of Fontenoy on May 11, 1745.
Attractions
- The castle of Antoing, which has belonged to the Princes of Ligne since the middle of the 17th century , was first mentioned in the 12th century, but was largely expanded between the 13th and 15th centuries. It was given its current neo-Gothic appearance in the 19th century by the architect Eugène Viollet-le-Duc .
- The town hall was built in 1565 as a cloth hall.
