The Gmina Linia or Gmina Lëniô is a bilingual rural community in the powiat Gdański in the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship . It has an area of almost 120 km², on which 6389 people live (June 30, 2019). Their seat is the village of the same name ( Kashubian Lëniô ; German Linia or Linde ).
geography
The rural community is located in Kashubia , about 30 kilometers southwest of Wejherowo (Neustadt in West Prussia) , the seat of the Powiat . The area belongs to the Kashubian Switzerland and is rich in lakes and watercourses. 52% of the area is arable land, 37% is forested.
The larger bodies of water include the Łeba (Leba) and the lakes at Lewinko, Miłoszewo and Strzepcz.
history
From 1772 to 1920 the places of today's rural community Linde belonged to the Prussian province of West Prussia . After the First World War , the area had to be ceded to Poland in 1920; it was part of the Polish Corridor . With the attack on Poland in 1939, the annexed area of the Polish Corridor, in violation of international law , became part of the German Reich . In 1945 it fell back to Poland.
Gmina Linia was founded on January 1, 1973 and belonged to the Gdańsk Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998 .
