The Gmina Sierakowice [ ɕɛrakɔˈvit͡sɛ ] ( Kashubian Gmina Serakòjce ) is a bilingual rural community in the powiat Kartuski of the Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is in the village of the same name ( German Sierakowitz ) with about 7400 inhabitants.
geography
The community is located in Kashubia in the former West Prussia , about fifty kilometers west of Gdansk .
history
Until 1920, Sierakowitz was a place in the district of Karthaus in the administrative district of Danzig in the province of West Prussia of the German Empire . After the First World War , the area was ceded to Poland to establish the Polish Corridor .

The rural community of Sierakowice is conveniently located at the intersection of the voivodship roads DW 211 and DW 214 . On June 23, 2000 the railway line between Kartuzy (Karthaus) and Lębork (Lauenburg (Pomerania)) was closed .
