The Gmina Stare Juchy [ ˈstarɛ ˈjuxɨ ] is a rural municipality in the powiat Ełcki of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the village of the same name ( German Alt Jucha , since 1929 Jucha , 1938 Fließdorf ) with about 1600 inhabitants.
geography
The municipality is located in the east of the voivodeship. The district town of Ełk (Lyck) is about ten kilometers away. Neighboring communities are in the powiat Giżycki Wydminy in the north-west, in the powiat Olecki Świętajno in the north-east, in the powiat Ełcki Ełk in the south-east and in the powiat Piski Orzysz in the south-west.
The landscape is rich in lakes. The approximately 900 hectare large Łaśmiady (Laschmieden Lake) is connected to the 265 hectare large Ułówki (Uloffke Lake) east of the capital. The Góra Płowiecka (Plowcz Mountain) has a height of 204 meters.
The rural community has an area of 196.55 km², 59 percent is used for agriculture and 17 percent for forestry.
